Bathing Beauties.

The girls have found a new favorite spot to take their dust baths...
Right outside the garden fence next to the pole beans. I think they must like this particular spot because it gets cooled off when I water the beans. The dirt they've scratched up looks dark and soft...even I think it looks nice and cool!
Notice their beaks hanging open...it is HOT here today. They like the heat about as much as I do.

"Excuse me. I don't suppose a girl can get a little privacy around here?"

I never get tired of looking at chickens. Is that weird? I love how they scratch, peck, and strut around, then take their dirt baths. We are installing a bunch of plumbing lines to our "back 40" as I call it. The "girls" (my hens), love to lay in the ditches we dug!

By the way, I love to look at your photos. It inspires me to take more of my own.

As soon as I saw the title on my blog I couldn't wait to read your post! Keep the tales of those ladies coming, we love them!

it's a chicken day. yes, my ladies hang their mouths open too when it is hot. it makes me worry about them though.

no comment on the number of little holes we have in our yard not from the dust baths. ugh.

Every girl needs a comfy spot to relax in. Looks like they've found theirs.

Just catching up.. Ahh your lovely ladies. Poor darlings are cooking. Glad to hear a mud pack did the trick. I hate it when they get hot.
