Off to a good start.

Yesterday's harvest....
...is today's breakfast.

I harvested (I love using that word...it sounds so official) some loose leaf lettuce yesterday. I was so excited! I brought it in...washed it (had to make sure no little baby slugs made their way into my meal...I have my limits)...and put it in a plastic bag for later.
"Later" was this morning. I thought it would be a good addition to my toast with avocado. And I was right...wheat toast, a little bit of light mayo, sliced avocado, sliced cucumber, loose leaf lettuce and a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash....we're talking good stuff. Serve with a glass of fat free milk and a yogurt and you're set!

Isn't it fun? The grow your own part? Love the avocado. Just a bit of salt & pepper and I'm set.

Oh, I'm jealous! I planted my loose leaf lettuce, but it isn't in yet. I hope it does well! I'm afraid that it will be too hot for it, since it's in full sun. We'll see... Lucky you though! That looks wonderful!

Fun comments! Nancy...I LOVE the "grow your own part"...definitely rewarding.

dmoms...I love tomato on it too! Unfortunately the store bought tomato I did have got a bit moldy...and the girls were glad for it!

Hi Kendra...I wonder if you couldn't put a row cover with some shade cloth over your lettuce? I think the reason mine IS doing so well is that it's in mostly shade!

Thanks, number17cherrytreelane!
