beautiful flickr favorites... |
When I was little we always spent Christmas Eve with my dad's family and Christmas Day with my mom's. Two whole days of CHRISTMAS. It was great...
I remember...
peanut butter on celery...
Cheez Whiz...
the smell of onions and cigarette smoke...
Vodka Gimlets (for the grown ups, of course)...
new pj's on Christmas Eve...
waiting and waiting and waiting for Santa and watching for him in the sky on the way home from my grandparent's house. I think I saw him once!
a new blue bike with rainbow tape and a denim seat...the coolest...
passing out the wrong gifts to the grandmothers...
my first 8" plant on a groovy wood and tile stand from Santa...I felt so grown...
Bonne Bell lip smackers in my stocking...the big fat ones! in strawberry or bubble gum...
a wood and wool sheep given to me by my uncle...from a Neiman window display in San Francisco...
There's more...lots and lots more....for another time.
Christmas was always wonderful in our house when I was growing up. I'm thankful...
Merry Christmas...

i have wonderful childhood memories of christmas too including those fat bonne bell lipsmackers! here are a few more:
the little kiddles talking doll house;
a 4' doll that walked;
a bright red tricycle;
a jewelry box from my dad;
a rabbit fur coat;
baby tender love....
now as a parent, my favorite memories are of the sparkle in my girls' eyes, especially the christmas' when they were little and believed that the fat man in the red suit came into our house while we were asleep. even now as teenagers they still have a sparkle in their eye.
merry christmas, dear friend.
Merry Christmas Michelle- wishing you and your family blessings!

Merry Christmas, Michelle! Love your picture collage! And I remember the big fat Bonnie Bell Lip smackers, too! I loved those things. Do yo know I still put Bonnie Bell lip stuff in my girls stockings every single year? Just not the big fat ones.
hope you had a blessed Christmas day Michelle! So lovely to read this post...makes we think of my childhood somehow! I want to watch 'The Sound of Music' again now...
;)
Love reading this...I can see it all, smell it all. Fun to read you got lipsmackers...that hasn't changed much, we give those, I mean "Santa" gives those to our girl too.
The wood and wool sheep sounds like Magic.
Beautiful memories Michelle.
Thank you for sharing.
